Final Diagrams

These diagrams show various functional and generative aspects of my final project.
Final Model
Don’t forget, I also have vegetable tops.

This is a front view of my final model hanging on the structure.

Interior view

Cross view (exterior)
In the end I did not succeed in my design goal of breaking my project’s excessive conformity to the grid. The vegetable tops can fairly be considered acknowledgment of that failure. That being said, I stand behind this project because it does perform in all of the ways it’s supposed to. It’s also the first iteration in a while that mostly stays together the way it was intended.
Failed Cuts

This cut was an experiment looking at the standardized perforations I intended to use. The bristol board was too thin for the model to stay together.

The error on this experiment was obvious. I tried making the pieces half size in order to conserve materials. The resulting grooves were far to shallow to grab and hold the pieces together.

This is the last precursor to the final model. Its instability was largely corrected by turning the clips into struts.
This is posted anachronistically. These are probably from October or early November. These became the basic idea that I developed throughout the final project.
Final Project_Facade

This facade is generated by taking sine waves and manipulating them. Areas that are more open and contain less panels have to do with the concept of public and private as well as shade and no shade.
